This Week’s Announcements

Western BBQ Benefit!

Coming up on August 21st we're going to hold a big Western BBQ Benefit (featuring Bruce Toth's delicious cooking skills). Kathi Mills will be organizing the event and tickets will be $12 for adults, $7 for kids which includes your meal, a beverage, and desert. We'll start "raising the roof" at 5pm and go until 8pm for a wild and fun tme. We are inviting EVERYONE...the whole community and wider Diocese and hope you'll come and bring your friends and family as we raise money to roof our Church and fund our Capital Campaign.

Back to School Drive

Our "Back to School Drive" begins next Sunday to benefit those kids in our community in need on items for school. Bring your items for donation to church for the next 3 Sundays in a row. (Sponsored by the ECW.)

Capital Campaign
We are making fairly good progress raising the needed $50,000 for facility improvements such as new roofs and sound system. We have received 40 pledges so far totaling about $30,000 over a three year period. With your continuing contributions to this campaign we will be able to be good stewards of God's property. Thanks to Mike Park, Mike Stone and the group of volunteers our parish hall has a new roof.  Pledge cards are available in the narthex.  If you have already made a pledge, we invite you to begin payments as soon as you are able.

Thank you Mike Stone, Mike Park, & the Roof Crew Volunteers!
Our Parish Hall is looking great and St. Alban's saved over $10,000 thanks to Mike Stone and his volunteer roofing crew and our Junior Warden who worked so hard to re-roof our building this past week.  Be sure to take a look and to thank them for their great work. Thanks to everyone who donated towards supplies and who supported our team with food and beverages as well.

One-Time Volunteer Needed
Refugee ministry is in need of a volunteer to help drive a refugee family to Immigration meeting in Chula Vista on July 26th at 9:00 am. If you are able to drive please see or call Joy Knight at 619-884-6734.

Prayer Garden
We continue to welcome donations towards the completion of the St. Alban's Prayer Garden...it is almost complete but we still need to purchase plants and trees. Consider donating a plant or tree in your loved one's honor!

Next Sunday
Next Sunday while Mother Rebecca is away we will have a guest Preacher and Celebrant, the Rev. Carolyn Richardson. Please make her feel welcome!

Office Hours in August

The office will be open Tuesday thru Thursday from  9 am to 1 pm during the month of August.

New Liturgy for July Continues
During the month of July at St. Alban's is using one of the new supplemental liturgies in the Episcopal Church from the "Enriching our Worship" materials approved by  the Episcopal Church several years ago.   Like the diversity of Eucharistic Prayers in our current Prayer Book, EOW offers a new and unique but thoroughly familiar Anglican approach to the liturgy.  Many churches throughout the United States use EOW regularly/seasonally in their worship and this will be an opportunity for us to see and experience it here at St. Alban's for several weeks. Your feedback is welcome and appreciated.

Our Summer Seminarian
Ms. Gillian Barr, a candidate for Holy Orders being sponsored by St. Paul's Cathedral, will be at St. Alban's this summer to gain some additional ministry experience.  She is a seminarian at Virginia Theological Seminary and will be with us throughout the summer while she completes her Clinical Pastoral Education program here in San Diego. Gillian will preach, assist in worship in a variety of ways, support our outreach ministries, and lead an adult education forum while she is with us.  We are excited to have her, so please welcome Gillian to St. Alban's!

Prayer List Guidelines
Names written on the Sunday prayer sheet or on pew cards are added to the public list for 2 weeks and are then removed, unless specifically requested otherwise. Names can also be added to the public list by telephoning or emailing Mother Rebecca.  Please give Mother Rebecca regular updates on individuals you place on the prayer list and/or when names can be removed, in order to keep our list current and of reasonable length. Thank you!

Refugee Ministry Collection for July: Toilet Paper
Thank you to everyone who donated Laundry Soap last month. In an effort to stock up on needed items for the refugees in our community, St. Alban's holds a drive each month requesting different items. Please place donations in the large basket in the foyer. Items will be collected and distributed to those in need every Tuesday morning.
