Here are some commonly asked questions and answers...
I’m new: What can I expect at a worship service at St. Alban’s?
Please see "Worship Services" for a full description of our various services.
Most importantly, at St. Alban's, you will be welcome. Our worship is based on the Book of Common Prayer and consists of prayers, several readings from the Bible, music/singing, a sermon, and Holy Communion (also called the Lord's Supper, Holy Eucharist or Mass) every Sunday. The Lord’s Table is open and we welcome all baptized Christians to receive Communion regardless of denominational background or tradition. Anyone can come forward to the altar for a blessing or healing prayers as well. Our service is printed out in full in a bulletin format to make your participation easier.
What is expected of newcomers and visitors?
Newcomers are welcome to participate in all aspects of the service or just sit, observe, and become acquainted, it’s really up to you. Greeters, clergy and other members will be happy to welcome and assist you with any questions you may have.
What should I wear?
Please come dressed in whatever you are most comfortable, there are no special requirements or expectations. Just come as you are.
How long does the service last?
Our 9:30am service lasts just over an hour. We have a coffee hour with snacks following the service every Sunday. Our Sunday evening service lasts 45 minutes and our Wednesday evening service lasts 30 minutes.
What about my children?
We welcome children of all ages as active participants in our worship. For infants through age 4 we have a certified childcare specialist who runs our Nursery. The Nursery is open throughout the Sunday morning and evening service. For children 5 through 12 we offer Sunday School at 9:30am and later the children return to the church to hear the Children’s Sermon and receive Communion with their families. All children are also welcome to stay for all or part of any our worship services…please do bring your kids! Children are welcome to receive Communion at the discretion of their parents.
Is the building accessible?
Our church building and Parish Hall are level and completely accessible. If you wish to receive Communion, the altar area has 2 stairs, so for those that cannot manage easily, the priest will come to your seat. Please let an usher know if you need assistance.
