How do I become a Member of St. Alban's?

Thank you for considering membership at St. Alban's! We are committed to "equipping everyone to celebrate and share God's love" as our mission statement.  You are certainly encouraged to talk to the priest if you are interested in membership at St. Alban’s. The first thing to consider is what level of membership commitment you would like to make.  

There are two types of membership in our church. The first is that of an informal member, where one simply affiliates with the parish through regular attendance, participation, and giving, but does not make a formal commitment to the parish. 

The second way to become a member of St. Alban’s is through formal affiliation and membership in the Episcopal Church through St. Alban’s.  As a member of the Episcopal Church you will be apart of the world wide Anglican Communion whose senior cleric is the Archbishop of Canterbury.

If you are new to the Episcopal Church and have never been baptized, baptism is your first step and you are invited to meet with the priest to prepare for the Sacrament of Baptism. If you have been baptized but have never been confirmed or received as an Episcopalian or Anglican, you are invited to study with the priest to cover the following areas: Church history, the Bible, spirituality, ministry, and theology from an Anglican perspective. If you are already an Episcopalian with membership elsewhere, you can request that your membership be transferred to St. Alban’s.

A member is referred to as a "communicant" in Episcopal-lingo, and this simply means that the individual participates in the life and worship of the church and gives regularly to the church community in a variety of ways.   As members, we are called to live out the call of our baptism to love and serve God and God's people, using the spiritual gifts and passions we have been given.
